I'm still trying to figure out if I experience this because I "blame" such writing discontinuity to other factors like distractions (surfing the net, Facebook :) ) and just being tired.

Yes, making an outline keeps all the ideas flowing and I sadly, I write right after I wake up. My mind is refreshed and well-rested.

Thanks for this article!

Good ideas, especially "Force Yourself to Write Something." I keep a notebook of writing prompts and go to one of them if I'm stuck.

Here's an idea if you have writer's block: Talk to a child. Yep, it's that simple, and I mean one that is young enough that he/she is still uninhibited by others' opinions of them and their thoughts. Share your idea in a G fashion, and I'll tell ya...they'll speak volumes. Of course, you'll need a thick skin because you'll also get the cold hard truth about your own ideas, but you'll also get their thoughts about life and the way it should be. They have creative things to say, and while you may not use any of the material exactly as they speak it, write it down. It may spark an idea for the current project that's got you blocked, plus you'll have a bank of ideas for possible future projects.

I didn't used but now I do, except i'm struggling with my current WIP and I can't move on because I don't have it outlined. I feel like if i could just write it would come together but ... catch 22. I may have to abandon it because I'm not inspired to move it forward. Though I fear perfectionism is the real culprit.

That was a lot of babble.

Excellent post. You have hit on a lot of good points in your article about writing a book. I have been in that static place before this article. Thank you for the great information. Now I am confident to use above tips and my experience to write a book.

Great article with good resources.
I haven't finished my book yet. I think that when it is finished, I'll definitely go with the self-publishing route.

Really appreciate this post since I'm in the process of writing a book. I'd be curious to know the stats on how well self publishers recuperate their initial investment. Marketing is key and I'm glad to see some great resources in the comments section.
Thanks!

Laura -- excellent idea for a post. As I am focused on social media writing I no longer use a traditional resume or CV. I call my document a Social Media Bio. It includes past employment, but what potential clients really want to know about is my expertise in social media, so that's what I tell them about. Here is a link to my bio on my WordPress blog http://writespeaksell.com/social-media-bio-2. Thanks for letting me share it with you and your readers.

I was invited to teach a screenwriting class at the University of Colorado, we agreed I would teach all they needed was my curriculum vitae. I hadn't a clue so I researched what a CV was, baffled I decided to write my CV in screenplay format. I covered all the required information by having a devil on one shoulder on the other an angle. They argued with each other about what should be on the CV, pretty fun actually. I've been teaching there for years now.
